Ralf Meyer, born 1970 in Lutherstadt Eisleben, is a poet, dramaturg and director who lives in Halle (Saale). He studied German literature, sociology, philosophy as well as media and communication studies.

Ralf Meyer has published several collections of poetry. In 1991 he re-founded the "Hallescher Dichterkreis" (Halle circle of poets, first circle founded in the 18th century) together with Gero Hirschelmann, Volker Dietzel and others following a poetry seminar at the Martin Luther University of Halle. He has been a member of the PEN since 2009 and has been chairman of the association that runs the Literaturhaus Halle since its foundation in 2017.

Since 2006 he has been working as chief dramaturge at Kulturinsel Halle. Before he worked as dramaturge, author and director at the Puppet Theatre Halle. In 2003 he was awarded the main prize of the children's and youth theatre festival "Traumspiele" for his mask play Die Schöne und das Biest, (The Beauty and the Biest) which was filmed and broadcast by the German television channel ZDF. The production toured in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, France and Canada. He returned to the Puppet Theatre at the beginning of the 2011/12 season.
