Nine Hours
In Studio City the hummingbird
Sucks from the stamens.
The kitchen is silent. Outside, the sky
Of L.A. has been baked of its demons.
The tuberose blooms to remind of tomorrow’s
Petals on the surface of the swimming pool.
The pool wall drops stilts to waiting earthquakes.
Everyone’s off making films today. A kestrel
Hovers. We cannot do great things
But only small things with great love.
To travel is to be still. Then sunset
Highlights tenderly all the flight paths above.

Neun Stunden
In Studio City saugt der Kolibri
Die Blütenkelche aus.
Die Küche still. Der Himmel von L. A.
Ist, ausgebacken, alle Geister los.
Die Tuberose blüht und sagt, die Blütenblätter
Werden morgen auf dem Pool schon treiben.
Die Pool-Wand fährt die Stelzen Richtung Erdbeben aus.
Alle sind sie heut am Filmedrehen. Ein Falke
Kreist. Wir können wohl nichts Großes tun,
Nur mit der großen Liebe Kleines.
Reisen heißt stille sein. Die Sonne sinkt,
All die Kondensstreifen sind fein ausgeleuchtet.
