Victor Ivaniv [Виктор Iванiв] graduated from Novosibirsk State University, then got his PhD there with the thesis about Russian avantgarde poetry. He worked as a librarian.

The first collection of Ivaniv's prose, Gorod Vinograd, appeared in 2003, the first collection of his poetry, The Glass Man and the Green Record, followed in 2006. Ivaniv’s poems also appear in the anthologies Literature from Outside the Capital, Black on White, Anatomy of an Angel, Cradle of Brotherhood, and 9 Dimensions.

He was shortlisted for the Debut Prize (poetry category) in 2002 and the Andrei Bely Prize (prose category) in 2009, then won the latter in 2012.

He lived in Novosibirsk in Russia before committing suicide in the early February morning.
