Sviad Ratiani was born in Tbilissi in 1971.

He studied telecommunications until 1992. In the same year his first book was released. Several publications followed.

Ratianis translations of Paul Celan, T. S. Eliot, Rainer Maria Rilke and others where milestones in the art of translating into Georgian.

Ratiani lives as a poet and translator.
