Patrizia Cavalli was born in Todi in 1947. In 1968 she moved to Rome to study philosophy there. Her thesis was in the aesthetics of music.

Cavalli is regarded as one of the most important voices of contemporary Italien poetry. She published her first collection of poetry, Le mie poesie non cambieranno il mondo, in 1974 with Einaudi. Next to her poetical works Cavalli has written two radio plays for the public radio station SAI and she translated Shakespeare’s dramas A summer night’s dream and The Tempest, Wilde’s Salomé as well as Molière’s Amphitryon.
