Paata Shamugia, born in Abkhazia in 1983, graduated from the Philological Faculty at Tbilisi State University. After publishing his poem 'Antitkaosani' in 2006 (which is an alternative literary version of the medieval Georgian epic poem “The Knight in The Panther’s Skin” by Shota Rustaveli), he gained popularity in Georgian public. During some months, the Georgian press discussed this book. After 3 years, in 2010 Paata Shamugia published his book 'Advantage' to critical acclaim.

In 2012 he published his book 'Akhatistos', wich brought him the most prestigious SABA literary prize of Georgia.

Today he works as an editor for the magazine 'Liberali' and writes reviews and critical essays. He's also Editor in Chief of the contemporary art-portal demo.ge
