Kateryna Babkina (Катерина Бабкіна) was born in Ukraine on July 22, 1985. She studied foreign journalism at Taras Shevtchenko Kiev State University and works as an independent journalist. She wrote columns for Le Monde newspaper and Focus magazine.

Her first poetry book, “The Lights of St. Elmes”, appeared in 2002. In 2012, she published her second volume of poetry, “The Mustard”, and a collection of short stories “Leloo after You” (2008). Kateryna Babkina is co-author of many anthologies and almanacs, her poems have been translated and published in magazines and elsewhere in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany and Sweden. She also writes scripts and theatre plays.

Kateryna Babkina is also co-author of VIDEOPOETRY/VIDEOPROSE project, director of videos to her own poetry and prose, as well as to modern Ukrainian and European authors' texts. Her VIDEOPOETRY/VIDEOPROSE works were presented at literary and film festivals in Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy, Moscow, Krakow, Vilnius and Valencia.
