Poetess, prose writer and dramatist Kateřina Rudčenková was born in Prague on 12th April 1976. She graduated in Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory with specialization for composition of the song lyrics and the scriptwriting. Undergraduate diploma she gained from Economics and Management on Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

She had debuted with collection of poems Ludwig (1999) and since the time she has belonged to the most interesting and the most sought-after personalities of contemporary Czech poetry, representing extraordinarily sensual and reflective voice. Her every next book awaken a significant response. The second collection of poems Není nutné, abyste mě navštěvoval (It isn’t necessary to you visit me, 2001) was published also in Czech-German version Nicht nötig, mich zu besuchen (Wieser Verlag, Klagenfurt, 2002). After book of poetry Popel a slast (The ash and the delight, 2004) she wrote the collection of short stories Noci, noci (The nights, nights, 2004) where she dealt with relationships between parents and children and between lovers, putting them through unmerciful but also ironic analysis.

For following many years she had interrupted the writing of poetry and she began to create the drama. All these texts has been mounted. Her first drama Frau in Blau (2004) was mounted in Činoherní studio Ústí nad Labem. Following drama Niekur (2006), which got second spot in the dramatic competition The Alfréd Radok Awards, was produced in the Theatre Ungelt in Prague in direction of Hana Burešová. The radio version was broadcasted on the culture radio station Vltava in direction of Kateřina Dušková. The play Čas třešňového dýmu (The Time of Cherry Fume, 2007) was realized as a radio play in direction of Kateřina Dušková again. Only the last play Zpacifikovaná (The Pacified, 2009) has not realized until now.

After nine years long break Kateřina Rudčenková published collection of poems. Chůze po dunách (The Walking on Dunes, 2013), inspired by a stay in Latvia, was immediately awarded The Magnesia Litera Prize.

Kateřina Rudčenková is very frequent guest of varied literary residencies. She received scholarship in Austria, Germany, Latvia and England for example. She participated in literary festivals in England, France, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Colombia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, Tchai-wan etc.

She is represented in a few international anthologies of poetry and her poems have been translated to seventeen languages.
