Kaisa Ijäs, (born in 1977) published her debut collection of poems Siskot, veljet (Sisters, brothers) in 2009. The collection was awarded the Katri Vala Prize and nominated for the Helsingin Sanomat Literature Prize for the best debut of the year. Besides her literary work Ijäs has studied film and Russian language and literature.

Kaisa Ijäs’ debut is poetry takes a look at dark and lone places. Ijäs trusts strong illustration, continuous enjambments, rhyme and playing with words. Ijäs writes about life and death, but shakes the picture with laughter and comedy.

She was a nominee for Runeberg Prize in 2014.

Her latest book Auringonkello was published in the autumn of 2017.
