Čarna Popović was born in 1989 in Pančevo, Serbia. She became known when critics – just after first few poems she printed in literature magazines – classify her as one of the most original poetical voices of new Serbian poetry. Not long after that, she printed her distinguish collection of poems “Self-cannibalism” (2010) and promoted herself as poetess close link to Face book way of thinking and writing. That status she strengthens by her next book, significantly named as “For like I am born, not for ignore” (2011). Not just Face book fans, and her net-friends, but also older generation critics, recognize ironic 21. Century use of antic Greek tragedy replica of Antigone (“For love I am born, not for hate”), and commend this new way of understanding world from specific viewing angle of lyrical subject. Since that time the name of this poetess is top ranked in Serbian poetical circles, but this fact did not change Čarna Popović. She is still living in Pančevo and Belgrade, and precisely separates “like” and “ignore”.
