Antônio Cícero was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1945. Among other things, he is the author of, on the one hand, philosophical essays, such as O mundo desde o fim (1995), Finalidades sem fim (2005) and Poesia e filosofia (2012), and, on the other hand, poetry books Guardar (1996), wich was awarded the Nestle Literature Prize, A cidade e os livros (2002) and Porventura (2012). In association with plastic artist Luciano Figueiredo, he is the author of Livro de sombras: pintura, cinema e poesia (2010). He is the editor of the book of essays on contemporary poetry Forma e sentido contemporâneo (2012) and, in association with poet Waly Salomão, the editor of O relativismo enquanto visão do mundo (1994). In association with poet Eucanaã Ferraz, he is the editor of Nova Antologia Poética de Vinicius de Moraes (2003). He is also the author of innumerable song lyrics, having such partners as Marina Lima, Adriana Calcanhoto, João Bosco, Caetano Veloso, Waly Salomão and José Miguel Wisnik. In 2012, he was awarded yhe Prêmio Alceu Amoroso Lima - Poesia e Liberdade.
