Cyn Brwydr
Mae’r nos yn llawn dynion;
maen nhw'n gwybod...
rhai’n gweddïo, rhai’n ‘sgwennu adre
rhai’n gorwedd yn llorweddol eisoes
yn arbrofi ag ebargofiant....
Mae llam y fflamau’n lluchio
siapiau melyn dros y milwyr ;
mae rhai'n gwnïo’u henwau ar eu cotiau....
Maen nhw'n gwybod...
yfory bydd y caeau’n llawn cyrff.

Before Battle
The night is full of men;
men who know...
some praying, some writing home
some lying down, horizontal already
experimenting with eternity....
The burning of the flames throws
sulphur-yellow shapes across the soldiers;
some are sewing their names on their coats...
Because they know...
that tomorrow,
corpses must fill the fields.
