Ulrik Farestad was born in 1984. He studied at the University of Oslo, and currently lives in Oslo, where he works as a translator.

His first book, Nye legender (2010), contained selected translations of poems by Robert Graves. The first volume of his own verse, Støv, stjerner, piksler, was published in 2013, and a second book of poetry, called Sangen og katastrofen, came out in 2017. In 2018 a selection of his poetry, Staub, Sterne, Pixel, was published in Germany, translated by Klaus Anders.
