Regina Guimarães was born in Oporto, in 1957. Alongside her daily poetry writing, she has developed work in the fields of Theatre, Translation, Music, Dramaturgy, Drawing, Art Education and Video. She was a professor at the Faculty of Literature of the Oporto University, the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts and the Higher School of Arts and Design.

She was the director of A Grande Ilusão magazine, president of the Association Sons of Lumière, programmer of the permanent cycle The Taste of Cinema at the Serralves Museum. She is co- founder of the Mário Dionísio Center – Casa da Achada. With Ana Deus, she co-founded the indie-pop band Três Tristes Tigres (Three Sad Tigers). She collaborated with other bands, namely Clã (Clan). She carried out numerous actions around the spoken and sung word.

For the last 12 years, she has been the organizer of the Furious Reading Porto program. She has lead writing and film initiation workshops. She aspires to be everywhere where there is a fair fight. She lives and works with Saguenail since 1975.
