Igor Bobkov [Ігар Бабкоў] was born in 1964 in Homiel.

He graduated from the philosophical department of Belarusian State University in Minsk.

Bobkov is the author of three books of poetry, a novel and essays. He is the translator of English and German poetry, p.ex. of J.Joyce, J.D.Salinger, W.B.Yeats, P.Celan. He is the member of the Union of Belarusian Writers and of the Belarusian PEN-Centre.

In 1987 he was working as an Express-Chronicle reporter in Minsk and has been involved in the last episodes of the Belarusian dissident movement why he also joined the literary underground societies Babilion and Tuteishyia.

In 1995 Bobokov founded the publishing house “Euroforum”, where he began to work as an editor of the magazine of literature and culture “Frahmenty” and of the literary line “Bibliyateka Frahmenty”.

His work has been translated into Polish, Ukrainian, German, Czech and Hungarian and was awarded several prizes.
