Grahame Davies is a poet, editor and literary critic. He was born in Wrexham in 1964 but lives now in Wrexham where he works for the BBC’s Welsh-language new media services.

In 1997 he was awarded a doctorate by the University of Wales for his study, written in Welsh, of the work of R.S. Thomas, Saunders Lewis, T.S. Eliot and Simone Weil. In 1997, his first volume of poetry Adennil Tir won the Harri Webb Memorial Prize. In 2000, he coedited Oxygen, a bilingual anthology of Welsh poets aged under 45. In 2001, his second volume of poetry Cadwyni Rhydidd appeared and was awarded the Wales Arts Council’s 2002 Book of the year Award. 2002 his literary anthology The Chosen People: Wales and the Jews, which details the relationship of the Welsh and the Jewish people as reflected in literature, was published. He is a full member of the Welsh academy and was the Welsh-language editor of Poetry Wales for several years.

In his poetry he critizises the falseness of urban media life and gives a new world view on our everyday lives. The Poet Meirion MacIntiyre Huws praises him for his “incredible gift of expression”. His works have been translated into many languages.
