Ruth Lillegraven, born in Granvin, West Norway, in 1978, made her debut in 2005 with the book of poems Store stygge dict, which announces 'Great Ugly Poems' in it's title. Before further collections of poetry followed, she published some children's books and a novel. 2018 also appeared the psycho-thriller Alt he mitt. For the poetry book Urd she received the prestigious Brage Prize.

In the poetry book SIGD (engl.: sickle), the poet immerses herself in an archaic lifeworld, drawing on diaries, legends, myths, legends and newspaper reports from the 19th century, and descends so deeply into the memory of language and the country. It is an anchoring in language as a store of knowledge, compressed to the bare minimum and enormously concentrated.
