Lia Likokeli was born on 6th of March, 1986 in a remote village of Khevsureti in high mountainous region of Georgia, with only 50 inhabitants. She moved to Tbilisi to study movie directing at Shota Rustaveli Georgian State University of Theatre and Film and was working as a theatre director in Dusheti theater during 2008-2013.

She started writing at the age of 25 and has become is a rising star of the contemporary Georgian literature scene. Her first poems appeared in the journal Literaturuli Palitra and were later published on the author’s personal Facebook page. They immediately became a literary breakthrough. This young poetess with an absolutely novel vision and style was suggesting a new trend, not framed in any well established clichés. Her first book of poetry was published in 2013 to much acclaim under the title Laughter of Devi’s Wife (Devi is a Georgian mythological character similar to European Giant). In 2014 she was awarded Georgia's top literature prize SABA for the best debut. In 2014 she won a literature prize "Tsero". She also was the winner of literary contest TSERO for short story twice.

Recently her poetry collection Laughter of Devi’s Wife was published in Sweden by the publishing house Smockadoll. Several selected poems from her first collection are included in the Georgian anthology "Ich aber will dem Kaukasos zu…", published in Germany by Pop Verlag. Currently Lia Liqokeli works as an editor for Karchkhadze publishing house.
