Dražen Katunarić is a Croatian poet, writer and essayist. He studied philosophy at the University of Human Sciences, Strasbourg. He has worked as a librarian and translator and works as a freelance writer since 1988.

In 1981 he started working as an editor for the publishing house "Mladost" and for the Croatian edition of "Lettre internationale" in the early 1990ies. He also worked as an editor for the literary journal "The Bridge" and "The European Messenger".

Since 1980 he has published poems, essays, travelogues, prose, articles, plays in croatian and foreign reviews. His poems are included in all relevant anthologies of conteporary Croatian poetry and he was invited to a number of international poetry festivals, e.g. in Medellin, Trois Rivières, Lodève, Lüttich, Bastia, Vilenica and Namur. His works have been translated into French, English, Italian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Romanian, Macedonian, Albanian and German. He was named a Knight of Literature (Chevalier de la littérature et de l'art) by the French Ministry of Culture.
