Sándor Tatár, born in 1962 in Budapest, is a Hungarian poet and translator.
He has published five collections of poetry so far and is an active translator of German literature. He graduated in German and Hungarian Language and Literature at Eötvös Lorand University in Budapest and holds a PhD in History of Literature.

As a translator he was awarded several scholarships, e.g. in Straelen and at LCB in Berlin. He was a founding member of MEGY (Association of Hungarian Literary Translators).

He won several literary prizes, among them the Alfred Müller Felsenburg Award for upright Literature with Paul Alfred Kleinert in 2009 and the József Attila Prize in 2010. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Author’s Association „Die Kogge”.

Sándor Tatár works as a librarian at the library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and lives in Törökbálint near Budapest.
