árabe | Noor Kanj

Who Will Bring My House Back?

inglês

Who will clean our memory of filth?

Who will stretch the void in our tight lives’ skulls?

Who will pierce the misery balloons?

Who will bring my house back?

Who will spell “war” for us both and keep a healthy heart for tomorrow?

Who will release me now from my body, and turn me into a rose?

Who will bring my house back?

Everyone I loved is now behind me,

Awaiting my regret, which I will not offer,

Wanting

The same words,

Even the thoughts I still… gather,

Wanting all my reasons!

I am sick of attracting love and lucky breaks.

Who will bring my house back?

I know the sadness of the strong

I realise my weakness for it

Once I was a cruel fate for one of them.

I hate their weakness,

Stealing guilelessness,

All torment, even pity!

Who will bring my house back?

Because of something.

Because of everything.

I fled, even from thought itself

I lost what I lost…

My luck never turned up trumps

Who will bring my house back?

I thought being orphaned was a wood

And family tame creatures that have no place here.

I lost what I lost…

My body started to believe the others are phantoms!

Yesterday

I saw something fearfully say my name.

Just like you used to!

Who will bring my house back?

My days are hollow

Which is why I didn’t notice things had weight!

That’s what made me

Some kind of mistake

Knowing exactly who the others are.

But definitely not how spaces are filled…

Yet

What worries me now

Is that the Earth is flat

Totally flat,

That my head is in

The wrong place

But that doesn’t matter now!

Who

Will

Bring

My

House

Back?

árabe | Noor Kanj

Bad Memories

inglês

The love I didn’t understand,
The worry that accompanied Good Morning,
The corpses I used to call family,
The quarrels that ended in a suitcase,
And the pictures where I am no longer in the middle,
The threshold.
The friends whose names I struggle to remember,
The neighbours who had the same scent,
The stairwell that was cleaned twice a week,
The anger that cleansed itself daily.
The room that waits,
The sisters I miss.
The hazy and abject desires,
I know will now expire.
Like the days,
That have passed,
That resemble the ones before,
That I expect,
That pass without surprise,
That only leave.
And the pain they leave behind.
The pain I love,
I need,
Because I am cautious,
Because of what has not yet come,
So I can stay
Far from the others.
