Solgun Bir Gül Dokununca

turco | Behçet Necatigil

Çoklarından düşüyor da bunca
Görmüyor gelip geçenler
Eğilip alıyorum
Solgun bir gül oluyor dokununca.

Ya büyük şehirlerin birinde
Geziniyor kalabalık duraklarda
Ya yurdun uzak bir yerinde
Kahve, otel köşesinde
Nereye gitse bu akşam vakti
Ellerini ceplerine sokuyor
Sigaralar, kâğıtlar
Arasından kayıyor usulca
Eğilip alıyorum, kimse olmuyor
Solgun bir gül oluyor dokununca.

Ya da yalnız bir kızın
Sildiği dudak boyasında
Eşiğinde yine yorgun gecenin
Başını yastıklara koyunca.

Kimi de gün ortası yanıma sokuluyor
En çok güz ayları ve yağmur yağınca
Alçalır ya bir bulut, o hüzün bulutunda.
Uzanıp alıyorum, kimse olmuyor
Solgun bir gül oluyor dokununca.

Ellerde, dudaklarda, ıssız yazılarda
Akşamlara gerili ağlarla takılıyor
Yaralı hayvanlar gibi soluyor
Bunalıyor, kaçıp gitmek istiyor
Yollar, ya da anılar boyunca.

Alıp alıp geliyorum, uyumuyor bütün gece
Kımıldıyor karanlıkta ne zaman dokunsam
Solgun bir gül oluyor dokununca.

A Pale Rose When I Touch

inglês

Many like her end up here

Yet no passer-by cares

I bend down and pick her up

She becomes a pale rose when I touch

Wandering in one of those big cities

Among the crowd at bus stops

Or in a far-off corner of the country,

In a café or in a hotel

Wherever she goes at these late hours

She hides her hands in her pockets

Flowing slowly among the

Cigarettes and papers

I bend down and pick her up, she becomes no one

But a pale rose when I touch

Or in the wiped off lipstick

Of a lonesome girl

As she rests her head on the pillows

On the edge of the weary night

Sometimes even in the middle of the day she sidles up

Mostly in fall you know when a cloud descends

and it rains, in that cloud of sorrow

I reach out and pick her up, she becomes no one

But a pale rose when I touch

In hands, between the lips, in wild scripts

She is caught by the night nets

panting like a wounded animal

smothered, wanting to flee

Through the roads through memories

Again and again I bring her back, all night she lies awake,

Tosses and turns in the dark and becomes

A pale rose when I touch

Translated by Gökçenur Ç. and Neil P. Doherty

YAĞMUR

turco | Metin Cengiz

-1-

Yağmurun yağışını seyrettim dün
Her şeyi göğe benzetiyor yağmur
Her şey asılı kalıyor havada

Seyredenler yazık be bu adama aklını mutlaka kaçırmış dedi
Bağırdım: akıl sizin olsun ama dokunmayın sakın yağan yağmura

-2-

Yangın yerindeyiz yanıyor her yer

Ömür böyle diye düşünüyorum
Çelik gibi sıkıyor boğazımı
Elimi uzatıyorum geçmişe
Yağmur tutuyor ellerimden yalnız şu viran olmuş yıllarım yerine
Su olup akıyor yağmur
Bir dava uğruna kaybolan elli dört yaşım

-3-

Uzun hava gibi yağıyor yağmur
Sanki çığ düşüyor pencerelere
Dünyanın menteşeleri kopuyor
Gök saçın yolarak iniyor yere

Beni bu havalarla an sevgili
Yağmurun bıraktığı yangınlarla
Beni yaktığı ateşle sokakta
Beni böyle alt üst oluşlarla an

Bir alt üst oluşum bu dünyaya ben

-4-

Akşam yorgun akşam yalnız hüzünlü
Yağsın, yağmur içip dirilsin dünya
Uzun bir uykudan uyanır gibi

Çocukken öğrendim doğmak ne ama
Hâlâ anlamadım gitti ölümü
        ***

Bu yıl bu bahçenin gülleri açmaz
Yağmurum ol yun beni sokaklarda
        ***

Sokaklarda akıp giden suyum ben
Mecram ol benim kalabalık yüzüm
Seninle sonsuza akıp gideyim

The Rain

inglês

-1-
Yesterday I watched the fall of the rain
The rain that turns everything to sky
Now all hangs in the air
As if frozen for a moment before falling to ground
The mind bewildered between both elements
Hovers there like a bird in flight

I caught a glimpse of you,—your rain like glance rain like body-
And hurled myself into the falling rain, clasping on to your body
Onlookers pitied the fool saying ah he must have lost his mind—
So I roared: Keep your mind for yourselves just do not touch the falling rain

-2-
The rain and its bold drops strike the soul
Sweeping up in whistles the verses in the mind
And life is borne away to the waters
My love your face your eyes are borne away
On the bridge it is the past I summon up
Fists in the air and marches, police batons and gendarme guns
Whatever has been lived lingers like dream in the sealed up distance

I am watching in joy the fire lit by the rain on the streets
The fire of rain left in the human soul, like love, like hope
We stand on the blazing ground, everywhere smothered in flames
Such is life I think
Like steel it chokes my neck
I stretch my hand out to the past
The rain holds my hand in place only of my ruined years
It turns into water, and flows
My fifty four years wasted on some struggle

-3-
Like a long lament the rains falls
As if dew were wetting the windows
The hinges of the world break off
And the sky lands pulling out its hair

Remember me in this weather my love
In the fires lit by the rain
In the fire that burned me on the street
Remember me my dear in all that ruins

I who am ruin to this world

-4-
Tired evening lonely evening is sad
So, fall rain, let the world drink of it and revive
As if waking from a long sleep

As a child I learned of birth
But I have never understood death
...

This year this garden’s roses will not bloom
Be the rain on the street and scrub me clean

I'm the water flowing over the streets
Be my gully and my crowded face
Let me flow with you to eternity

SAVAŞ

turco | Metin Cengiz

Her yerde savaşın kokusunu alıyoruz
yalnız adı da olsa burnumuza vuruyor
taze ekmek kokusu gibi uzaktan.
Sanki birileri içimizde vuruşuyor
hayat ölümü deniyor silahıyla
kelimelerin kanını akıtarak.
Ekranlar öyle yakın ki gökyüzüne
tanrıyı görmemek imkansız
geçerken cepheden cepheye.

Oğlum, “Tanrı çıldırmış olmalı” diyor
“bu denli düşman olamaz kendine
aklının peşinde koşan insan bile.”
Aklın ne olduğunu düşünüyorum bir an.
Oturmak geliyor bir sandalyeye içimden
ve içmek sarhoş oluncaya yeniden.
Belki rastlarım diye kaybettiğim yüzüğüme
karımın armağanı ışıltılı bir gecede
kaybetmiş olduğum çakıllar arasında.

Elveda çocukluk aşkım.
Elveda çocukluğum.

Merhaba tanrı

War

inglês

Everywhere we draw in the reek of war
That even in name strikes the nostrils
Like the scent of bread from afar.
It’s as though some were battling inside us
Life and its weapons testing death
By draining the words of their blood.
The screens are so close to the sky
That it is impossible not to see God
Pacing from front to front.

“God must have gone mad” says my son
“ not even he who chases his own mind
Could be that much of an enemy to himself.”
I ponder for a while on what the mind is
Feeling the need to sit down on a chair
And drink again until I am reeling drunk.
Perhaps I will stumble across the ring  I lost
That my wife gifted to me one luminous night
There among the pebbles where I misplaced it.

Farewell my childhood love,
Farewell my childhood.

Hello God.
