Stunde Null: Loop
Die Linde hat all ihre Blätter verloren
und vom Sommer blieb nichts als
der Wunsch dem alten Deutschland
noch einmal den Kopf zu kraulen
und zu versprechen dass seine Enkel
sich besser erinnern werden - was nützt
ein Gedicht wo die anwachsenden
Berge der Dinge zum Jodeln zwingen

Zero Hour: Loop
The linden tree has lost all its leaves
and nothing is left of the summer but
the wish to stroke Old Germany’s
head one more time
and to promise that its grandchildren
will remember better—what is the use of a poem
when the increasing mountain of things
compels us to signal by yodeling
