Que no sàpigues passar la pàgina dels dies antics, dona,
que la pols dels dies antics se’t quedi aferrada sota les ungles,
en forma de llunes blanques,
dona en runes,
no sé si ho deus al Proust que mai no has llegit,
a l’angúnia dels llibres, al vers que t’encalça,
a la verdor de la fruita o a la pluja incessant que t’habita.
Que se’t facin pans de terra dels records, dona,
i que els versos et creixin com plantes grasses,
com rates imprevistes en la foscor de la cuina,
com tempestes de sorra a l’ull del poema
o com l’atac nocturn de les síl·labes que et remou dins del llit,
dona estàtua,
dona sola,
vers en flames,
sargantana,
solell dona
i dona obaga,
no sé si ho deus al Freud que mai no has entès,
a la fredor del marbre, a la tristesa dels llapis
o a l’eco dels teus ventricles.
I la sístole et parla de culpes,
i la diàstole et diu que genètiques,
i les vàlvules del cor,
sempre,
sempre,
sospiren molt orfes.

Guilt
Woman, how to know if not knowing how to turn the page on the old days,
or finding the dust of the old days clinging under your fingernails
in the shape of white moons,
woman in ruins,
is something you owe to the Proust you never read,
or to the agony of books, or to the poem that pursues you,
or to the unripeness of fruit or the incessant rain that inhabits you.
Woman, if memories turn into clumps of earth on you,
and lines of poetry grow in you like succulents,
like unexpected rats in the dark of the kitchen,
like sandstorms in the eye of the poem
or like the nightly attack of syllables that keeps you tossing in bed,
statue woman,
woman alone,
verse in flames,
lizard,
sunlit woman
and shadow woman,
how to know if you owe it to Freud whom you never got,
or to the cold touch of marble, or the sadness of pencils
or the echo of your ventricles.
And the systole speaks to you of guilt,
and the diastole says genetics,
and the heart valves
always,
always,
sigh orphan sighs.
