que fa les gotes
en l’instant de comptar-les.
I et dic déu
però no crec que te’n diguis.
És un àlies, tan sols.
Pocpoderós creador
no del cel ni de la terra
sinó del batre d’ales
de l’ocell al sot, i potser
de l’erosió final, i la volada impensable,
et dic déu i és només l’abreviatura
de la paraula que encara desconec
i a poc a poc va creixent
dins del tub d’assaig
d’un laboratori en ruïnes.

Uncertain name
I didn’t say “I believe in You”
because I believe
but in order to believe
--really--in an eyedropper
that makes drops
the moment you count them.

that I don’t believe that’s your name.
It’s only an alias.
You aren’t a very powerful creator
of either heaven or earth,
just a bird flapping wings
in a hole, and maybe
the final erosion, the unthinkable flight,
and I say “god” and it is only the abbreviation
of the unknown word
and little by little, it’s growing
inside a test tube
in a laboratory of ruins.
