Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, born in Baie-Comeau (Quebec) in 1991, grew up in Pessamit, the First Nations reserve and Innu community in the Côte-Nord area and lives today in Montréal. The performance poet, actress, artist and activist (for indigenous rights and the environment) is one of the most important voices in Quebec.

Her first volume of poetry, N'entre pas dans mon âme avec tes chaussures, was published in 2012 and was awarded the Prix d'excellence of the Société des Écrivains francophones d'Amérique in 2013. Two years later she was nominated for the Prix Émile-Nelligan for her second volume of poetry Manifeste Assi (2014). In 2016 her third volume of poetry Bleuets et abricots was published, followed by Nanimissuat Île-tonnerre in 2018. Écosociété published in 2016 her letter exchange Kuei, je te salue with the Québeco-American author Deni Ellis Béchard.

Natasha Kanapé Fontaine is part of the indigenous youth movement. She is the spokeswoman for the Pan-Canadian movement Idle No More in Quebec. She has been invited to Belgium, Haiti, France, Germany and Scotland. In 2017 she represented the Inuit and Québecers at the Festival des minorités ethniques in Tibet.
