Božena Správcová (b. 1969 in Prague) studied information science and has worked as an editor, publisher, and critic for the literary review Tvar (Form) for about 20 years. As a writer she has published six poetry books, two collections of interviews and three books of prose.
Her poems are complex compositions that almost reach the form of prose. She consciously combines “unpoetic” motifs, neologisms and colloquial language with literary language.
Her debut collection, published in 1993, was Guláš z modrý krávy (Goulash from the Blue Cow). Her collection »Výmluva« (Excuse) earned her the reknowed Jiří Orten Prize in 1996. In 2005 her poetry collection Požární kniha was shortlisted for the State Prize for Literature. Správcová works as an editor for different publishers and as vendor in a second-hand bookshop.
