Armando Silva Carvalho is a poet, fictionist, and translator.
He graduated in Law,
from the Classical University of Lisbon, in spite of a random passage by Philosophy.
After being a journalist, high school teacher and creative advertiser , he applies
himself today to translation and publicity adviser almost exclusively.
He made his
first public appearance with Lírica Consumivel that earned the Revelation Prize of
Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (Portuguese Society of Writers). Using of
mordacity and sarcasm he brings to light social and political hypocrisies
By the sixties he collaborated with several publications: Diário de Lisboa Poemas
Livres, Colóquio-Letras, Hífen, As Escadas Não Têm Degraus, Sílex, Nova, Limiar,
Via Latina, Loreto 13, among others.
Some of his most important translations are from Beckett, Marguerite Duras,
Cesaire, Genet, E.E. Cummings, Aleixandre, Andrei Andreevich Voznesensky, and
Stéphane Mallarmé.
