they stared into the sun
not once forgetting
that life is that mere spot's
fragilely coarse nuclear reaction

maybe the best noblest
and most heroic thing is
that sons brothers
sisters and daughters
did not kill themselves
in spite of it all

although there was reason enough
and reason was given
they were not concerned by
a worn-out coat
broken shoes
broken passions

it takes bravery
to call life itself
a lot in life
every morning
