Siapakah Yang Akan Mengingatkan Aku

malais | Latiff Mohidin

waktu itu para penghuni malam
telah nyenyak tidur di atas lantai
tubuh-tubuh yang terbaring ke dalam mimpi
melupakan gerak dan suara serak
peladang-peladang tua di siang hari

aku turun ke tanah berjalan
mengelilingi rumah dengan senyap
cuba mengingatkan nama-nama pohonan
burung-burung kecil di dalam lalang itu
ikan-ikan yang menggelepar di tebat

siapakah yang akan mengingatkan aku
akan gerak bayang-bayang tak bernama
menghilang ke dalam kelam tanpa suara?

aku akan berjalan berlengkar sebentar
di sini mengelilingi rumah dengan senyap
menanti sebelum saat lelap itu kembali lagi

Who Will Remind Me

anglais

at that hour the night’s dwellers
slept soundly on the floor
bodies resting passing into a dream
forgetting the movement and the hoarse voices
of the old farmers in the early day

i return to the ground walking
encircling the house quietly
trying to remind the names of trees
the small birds in the wild grass
the fish fluttering in the dam

who will remind me
of the movement of unnamed shadows
vanishing into the dark without a voice?

i will walk around awhile
here encircling the house quietly
waiting before that moment of sleep returns again

Maya

malais | Latiff Mohidin

bertahun-tahun
kubawa namamu
                            maya
dari desa ke desa
kubawa ia bak luka baru
di keningku
                  maya
dari kota ke kota

kadangkali
ia tiba-tiba membuka
biasanya tidak apa-apa
kadangkali
bila kusebut namamu
                                  maya
mengalir darah
ke seluruh muka

mengalir darah
ke seluruh muka

Maya

anglais

year after year
i carry your name
                            maya
from village to village
i carry it like a new wound
on my brow
                   maya
from city to city

at times
it opens suddenly
most times it does not stir
at times
when i say your name
                                   maya
blood flows
all over my face

blood flows
all over my face

Sajak-Sajak Tengah Malam

malais | Latiff Mohidin

i
malam ini
                  bulan
telah membuka
tirai emasnya
                  ombak
telah membuka
bibir merahnya
mereka bertemu di sini
di lereng pinggangmu
untuk menyaksikan
                   tarian asyikmu
                   tarian mautku

ii
kau lihat bagaimana
            kusapu alismu
                     dengan manisan
kulihat bagaimana
           semut mabuk
                        di lengkung alismu
                               beriringan

iii
dari kerongkongmu
yang sepi
kudengar

                 serigala meraung
                 kuda meringkik
                 singa menderam
- tiada hentinya

dan halkumku
turun naik
semakin keras
menyahut pekikan
kerongkongmu

iv
pahamu:
                     kacip yang
lembut

v
tujuh lautan
satu gelombang
                        di pusar perutmu
                        berpusing
               denyutan purba
                             memanggil namaku
                                          kuturuni bukit
                                          kutinggalkan padang luas

               aku merangkak kembali
               ke lubuk kelamu

Poems of the Deep Night

anglais

i
this night
         the moon
unfurls
its golden curtain
         the wave
opens
its red lips
they come together here
on the slant of your waist
to witness
          your dance of ardour
                                        my dance of death.

ii
you look at how
             i graze your eyebrows
                     with sweetness
i look at how
             the ants intoxicate
at the arc of your eyebrows
                              in procession

iii
from your silent
throat
you hear

            the wolves howl
            the horses whine
            the lions roar
—incessantly

and my adam’s apple
rises and falls
hardens
answers the scream
of your throat

iv
your thighs:
                        soft
scissors

v
seven seas
a single wave
on the navel of your belly
                   undulating
            an ancient pulse
                        calls my name
                                    i descend from the hill
                                    i leave the open field

            i crawl back
into the depths of your darkness

Tenang Telah Membawa Resah

malais | Latiff Mohidin

tenang telah membawa resah
resah telah membawa
kau ke mari
kau telah memilih
untuk tidak tinggal diam
setiap yang kau pegang
terasa lama
setiap yang kau jauhi
terasa dekat
waktu pintu tertutup
kau ingin keluar
waktu ruang terbuka
kau ingin duduk
kau duduk untuk berdiri
bungkusan yang kau buka
kau ikat kembali
yang kau pinta kau tolak
yang kau jerat kau lepaskan
setelah patuh kau engkar
setelah menang kau mengalah

tenang telah membawa resah
resah telah membawa
kau ke mari
tapi kamarmu bukan di sini
dan kau merantau lagi

The Calm has Brought the Storm

anglais

the calm has brought the storm
the storm has brought
you here
you have chosen
to not live still
all that you hold
feels old
all you’ve forsaken
feels near
when doors are shut
you want to leave
when space is opened
you want to sit
you sit to stand
the parcel you opened
you bind again
all you request you refuse
all you snare you set free
having conformed you renounce
having won you surrender

the calm has brought the storm
the storm has brought
you here
but your room is not here
and you wander once again
