γάμα την αποκάλυψη. ρίμες στη μεσολογγίου ψάχνουνε για κάλυψη. μπάτσοι μπουκάρουν στην κατάληψη. το ίδιο έργο κάθε βράδυ σε επανάληψη. ψηλά αγνάντευε μα χαμηλά πολέμα. βάλε μέγκα, η αστυνομία μιλάει με το στόμα του πρετεντέρη. στη φόδρα ράψε ένα μαχαίρι. μπράβοι την πέφτουν μέρα μεσημέρι.

χούντα. ο στρατός στους δρόμους. τα παιδιά παίζουν μπάτσους κι αστυνόμους. στη βουλή τ’ αφεντικά διατάσσουν νόμους. οι εργάτες στο μαντρί, εργασία και τιβί. γκλάμουρ και γκαβλί, οι νεολαίοι μοιάζουνε μέλισσες δίχως κεντρί. οι αντάρτες φυλακή, θηρία στο κλουβί. κι οι ποιητές; οι ποιητές στη σιωπή. λεωφόρος δίχως βοή.

ποιητάδες, μείνετε σπίτι. εύθραυστοι σαν κυκλάμινα, μια ζωή στην ήττα και την άμυνα. ξοφλημένοι αριστεροί, μπουρζουάδες του ποιείν. στο μακελειό σκορπάτε σαν τα ποντίκια απ’ το σάμινα. νεκρά φύση. εγώ εκπαιδεύω λέξεις φενταγίν. δεν γράφω ποίηση, γράφω προκηρύξεις. να δούμε πού θα είστε όταν το αίμα στο δρόμο πήξει.

scheiß auf die apokalypse. am kotti ducken sich reime in deckung. bullen stürmen das besetzte haus. jeden abend derselbe film. kämpfst du unten, dann schau nach oben. schalt an die glotze, der moderator röhrt bullenkotze. ins jackenfutter näh ein messer. am helllichten tag prügeln schläger noch besser.

junta. militär auf den straßen bei jeder keilerei. kinder spielen räuber und bullerei. im parlament widmen sich die herren der gesetzgeberei. die arbeiter im pferch, maloche und tv. glamour und gv, die jugendlichen – bienen ohne stachel, die rebellen in den zellen wie raubkatzen im käfig. und die dichter? ach, die dichter ganz im stillen so wie straßen frei vom schrillen.

schreiberlinge, bleibt zuhaus, ihr zarten alpenveilchen – nichts als versagen und gute figur. gescheiterte linke, kleinbürger der dichtkunst. in der schlacht verlasst ihr wie ratten das sinkende schiff. still-leben. ich bilde die wörter aus zum fedajin. ich schreib keine gedichte, sondern bekennerbriefe. mal sehn wo ihr seid, steht das blut in den straßen knöcheltief.

FUCK ARMAGEDDON

Fuck Armageddon. The cops get it on. Writhing and fucking dead on top of the poems, who redden. The poems blush their own blood into Messolonghi Street. The poems: fulsome plankton. Blenderized in the French-kissing maws of the armored Megaladon-shark policemen. Who has his head so far up his asshole the police can’t even fit an arm in there? Prenteri! The Captain of T.V.! Tarry, Prenteri, with smile unscary! Come visit Messolonghi! They murder in broad daylight here—(you should be so lucky!)

Junta: army in the streets. Toy boots on every Caligula kiddy’s feet. Mobsters larding the laws to pure pork-fat—no bone, no meat. The labor is sleepily grunting in their pens: doing Miley Mohawks and Masturbating to the QVC T.V. gems. Our youth are milk powder when I fucking asked for cayenne. The rebels are trunchoned by the Megaladon policemen. The leopards are caged like KFC hens. And the poets? The poets are quiet again. Messolonghi Street: silent as Danny Boy’s Glenn.

Fuck off, flower poets. Fragile as your amaryllis. Blinding and bloating yourself with silk: constantly eating and shitting a chrysalis. The doddering leftists toast with milk the stinking rats on the sinking Samina, who flee too fast to let the cheese curdle. My words are Fayadeen: verbal, fatal, fertile—where will you be when the blood begins to burble?

Jazra Khaleed (pen name) is a poet, filmmaker, performer and translator. He lives in Athens and writes exclusively in Greek. His works are an indictment of fascism, social injustice, police brutality, and racism in contemporary Greece.

His most recent publications are Requiem für Homs (parasitenpresse, Germany, 2022), Requiem pour Homs et autres poèmes (Marges en Pages, France, 2022), The Light That Burns Us (World Poetry Books, USA, 2021) and μα είν' αυτό ποίηση; (Teflon Books, Greece, 2020). His poems have been widely translated for publications in Europe, the US, Australia, and Asia, and have appeared in The Guardian, The Los Angeles Review of Books, World Literature Today, Lichtungen, Modern Poetry in Translation, Glänta, Die Horen and other publications.

According to The Los Angeles Review of Books, “[Jazra Khaleed] stands up to fascism by writing and performing Greek-language poetry that is unmatched in technical bravura, emotional depth, and political urgency". His performances have been described as “possessing the kind of energy that pervades the riots on the streets of Athens” (Süddeutsche Zeitung), “explosive” (Berliner Zeitung) and “wild, energetic and forceful” (junge Welt).

He has won the Soundout! Award for New Ways of Presenting Literature (Germany) and the Crystal Vilenica Prize (Slovenia) and has been awarded residences and fellowships from the Federal Chancellery of Austria, the Kone Foundation (Finland), the Robert Bosch Stiftung (Germany), the International Writer’s House Graz (Austria), the Syros International Film Festival (Greece) and Centrale Fies (Italy).

As a founding editor of the Athens-based poetry magazine Teflon, and particularly through his own translations published there, he has introduced to a Greek readership the works of Amiri Baraka, Keston Sutherland, Etel Adnan, Bert Papenfuß, Safia Elhillo, Ann Cotten, Lionel Fogarty, Audre Lorde, Ghayath Almadhoun among many other American, British, Australian, Arab and German-language political and experimental poets.

His short films have been screened at festivals such as the Ann Arbor Film Festival (USA), Experiments in Cinema (USA), Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (Switzerland), Kasseler Dokfest (Germany), Biennial de la Imagen en Movimiento (Argentina), Entrevues Belfort (France), L’Alternativa (Spain), Cooler Lumpur Festival (Malaysia) among others. The film rendition of his poem about the immigrant situation, “The Aegean or the Anus of Death,” won prizes at the Paris Festival for Different and Experimental Cinema, the Zebra Poetry Film Festival, and the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival.
