Chow Teck Seng aka Zhou Decheng was born in Singapore. He is the recipient of the 2014 Singapore Literature Prize and 2009 Singapore Golden Point Award in Chinese poetry.

Besides publishing his latest poetry collection ‘The Story of You and Me’ in 2012, his poems and short stories have appeared in English and Chinese anthologies, local and overseas Chinese press, journals and online platforms.

In 2015, his sequence poem “The 5 Shades of Solitude” was adapted into an anime short. A multilingual poem, “We Speak to Fish Using National Languages” (2015) witnesses a hybrid use of Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Malay and English, in addition, works as an ekphrasis that underlies a meta-narrative structure.

A featured writer in the 2015 New Delhi Book Fair, 2014 London Book fair and 2012/2014-6 Singapore Writers’ Festival, his poems were translated and published in English and French for the 2012 Festival Franco-Anglais de Poésie, Paris.

An exco-member of the Singapore Association of Writers and a current PHD student at Cambridge University (in literary criticism and comparative Sinophone literatures), he is also working on projects in translated poetry.
