Nina Živančević is a poet, essayist, novelist, playwright, art critic, translator and editor of the Parisian magazine NY ARTS and has published 15 volumes of poetry. She has also written three books of short stories, two novels and a volume of essays on Miloš Crnjanski (her doctoral thesis), which have been published in Paris, New York and Belgrade. She has been awarded three literary prizes, was a former assistant and secretary to Allen Ginsberg, and has edited and contributed to numerous anthologies of contemporary world poetry.

As an editor and correspondent, she has written for New York Arts Magazine, Modern Painters, American Book Review, East Village Eye and Republique de lettres. She has been a lecturer at Naropa University, New York University, the Harriman Institute and St. John's University in the US, taught English language and literature at the Sorbonne (Paris I and V) and history of avant-garde theatre at Paris 8 University in France, as well as at numerous universities and colleges in Europe.
She has worked actively in theatre and broadcasting: 4 of her plays have been performed and broadcast in the US and UK.
In New York, she has worked with the "Living Theatre" and the members of the "Wooster Group".
She lives and works in Paris.
