Name J. H. Krchovský is nom de plume of poet Jiří Hásek who was born in Prague on 22^th April 1960. He refused to study whichever school because the relationship between a teacher and a student is humiliating and unbearable according his opinion, especially in the time of nondemocratic regime. So he worked as bricklayer and belonged to a circle of underground intellectuals. When he was twenty he began to publish in samizdat in Czechoslovakia and also in abroad. His collections of poems were circulating as typescripts. First officially published domestic collection of his poems, Noci, po nichž nepřichází ráno (Host, 1991), was printed after the Velvet Revolution. Besides writing of poems Krchovský likes the drawing. He has illustrated his book Mladost – Radost (Větrné mlýny, 2005).

Krchovský’s poetry is markedly influenced by Czech philosopher and poet Egon Bondy or Czech decadents as František Gellner, Jiří Hlaváček and Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic and Krchovský often works with literary allusions to their pieces of work. His poems are closed to these classic authors by their regular form which is very unusual because in contemporary Czech poetry tendency to a vers libre is prevailing. In contrast with it Krchovský uses a vers classique, a proceleusmatic dactyl frequently.

The crucial topic of his poetry is vainness and absurdness of live and the basic feeling is anxiety of live and death or society in itself. But he finds a counterweight of nihilism in humour, self-irony, play with paradoxes, beauty of symbolic picture of downfall or pure pleasure in extensive imagination.

He is very good interpreter of his own poetry both as a reciter and singer of rock group Krch-off band which he found in 2007. Other Czech alternative groups set his texts to music for example the most famous underground group The Plastic People of the Universe, Nahoru po schodišti dolů band, Hudba Praha, Echt! etc. His poems are included in many foreign anthologies; poem Na samém konci decorated the facade of house in Dutch town Leiden. He is the best-selling Czech author of poetry who has published ten books on the whole and his poems have been translated to French, English, German, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Bulgarian, Slovene but anthology in book form exists only in French. Bestiale tendresse (Les Cabannes, Fissile, 2014) includes thirty three poems to 1989 translated by Jean-Gaspard Páleníček.
