Gilberto Castellanos was born in Ajalpan, Puebla (Mexico) in 1945.

He is associate professor, graphic artist and cultural promoter. Furthermore, he is one of the founders of the cultural organisation Casa de la Cultura de Puebla, where he worked from 1970 – 1994.

He was head of the institution for public relations of plastic arts and culture in Puebla working as cultural journalist for over 20 years in different media. He worked for radio and TV, for instance, for 6 years he conducted the program Puebla en la Cultura.

Currently he is head of the department of cultural promotion of the Benemérito Instituto Normal del Estado General Juan Crisóstomo Bonilla.

His most famous poetry collections are El mirar del artificio (1985), Yacimientos del verano (2000), Rama del ser (2001), Semillas de barro (2003), Arcángide (2003) and Caudal (2005).
