Dionýsis Kapsális [Διονύσης Καψάλης] was born in Athen in 1952. From 1970 to 1974 he studied Classical and English Philology in the U.S.A. and afterwards, from 1981 to 1984, he studied Greek Philology in London, where he also worked as a lecturer for two years.

Since 1978 Kapsális has published fifteen poetry collections, five collections of essays and various translations of, for example, William Shakespeare, Emliy Dickinson, Haikus Issas and Bashos. For the stage he has adapted Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, King Lear and Othello.
