Vers del no dir re

catalán | Dolors Miquel

Ben bé no sé pas poc què dir
i poso punt on hi va pont,
perquè no tinc pas res a dir

dur i molt fer i hi vaig clapant

no sé si dormo o menjo rap.

Ben bé no sé pas què he dit
i si ho sabés “passo” diria.

Verse about nothing to say

inglés

No idea I’d so little to say
put crap where I want crop
as I’ve nothing to say
I’ve a bung above my brows
write verse so as not to drop
for verse is such a drowse.

Dense drowse I find it so dense,
hard, heavy and snooze
on my way to the fifth sense
which comes on a long fuse.
I lose my head with a clink,
clink twixt hand and blink.

And find a clink, clank, clunk
in rhyme heading nowhere fast
words to put you in a funk
with go-go-go nowhere past,
as I fall flat on a wave of punk
don’t know if I sleep or eat skat.

Cheap skat reeking of plover
beside a lover who reeks of skate
and now I’ll rhyme it all with bruvver
so the r sounds light and grows
with cur, burr or purr
not knowing two to one flows
No idea what I’d said,
and if I had I’d say “Pass”.

Mamíferes amb puça

catalán | Dolors Miquel

Jo, Déu, la mamífera,
miro embadocada l’univers i les coses invisibles
i l’anomenarà Déu?

Mammals with flea

inglés

I, God, the mammal,
look agog at the universe and invisible things
and at the flea on the belly of my dog.
Will she too look at me
with the same spiritual contentment?
And take a chance on the hypothesis
of trismegistic universes?
Suddenly feel an infinite desire for love
and call it God? God, God.
Call it God in a canticle
from the microbes lying still on the flea’s belly
up, down, as far as my hand or even further?
Will the flea feel infinite power
on the belly of my dog?
Think of destroying the forest of long, soft hairs
that autumn plucks and fills my flat with flakes?
Think of nuclear war?
Feel the Westernness of the void of centuries?
Will the flea consult a psychotherapist or psychiatrist
when she intuits she is beholden to the gaze of another?
Will the flea blame her father and mother for her neurosis?
Or call me Goddess? Or even worse:
call my dog Goddess, or think
she’s the daughter of my dog?
Will she too ask stupid questions like me?
And crucify other fleas?

Coleridge

Vaig travessar el paradís en un somni
i em van donar una flor.
He estat al paradís, mare -li vaig dir.
Vaig saber aleshores
que no n’hi havia prou
d’haver estat al paradís.

Paradise

inglés

If a man were to cross through Paradise in a dream, and they gave him a flower as a proof that he had been there, and if, upon awaking, he were to find that flower in his hand… what then? Coleridge

I crossed through Paradise in a dream
and they gave me a flower.
The flower was there when I woke up,
on the sheets. It was gorgeous.
I showed it to my mother
who lived shut up in the heart of an artichoke
weaving the silk from her eyes, working it
into marvellous shrouds of a thousand hues.
‘I’ve visited paradise, mother’, I told her.
And she took from her pocket
an identical dried flower.
Then I knew
a visit to paradise
was not enough.
