history poem

in the beginning
as you may have guessed
the lonesome clouds
casting birthmarks on the earth

before long eggs crack
and out struggle
baby pterodactyls

over the mountains
mountains

the water shines
a clean silver water
and the wet quiet sand

the new world stilt-legged horse
the forest horse
the true horse

more clouds
fewer clouds
bronze

given time
even birds grow
cucumbers become musty
the half-frozen field will thaw

the invention of doors
until suddenly
an alpine goat nibbling a bad man's head
both surprised

the bad man returns to the city
he is not even bad
the goat looks at grass

we spend our lives in the city together
like unsettling grapes
all of us

peanut butter comes and goes

the tides of people are endless
looking fantastic on their chosen city bus

a ladybird darkens on the bad man’s cistern
when he looks
spiders dying of old age
everywhere in his city

city pigeons still tortured in dreams daily
now sometimes even found
with an emerald instead of a head

in his city home
while the girl is there
she smells of oranges
when she is awake

the bad man is sick
of the world revolving around him

before long
it is dark in a language
that we don't understand

our solar panels freeze
and thaw

grasshoppers swarm every 17 years

the end of phobos

the proper motion of stars

waves turn white
as they hit the beach

poema della storia

agli esordi
come potrai aver intuito
le nubi solitarie
lanciano macchie sulla terra

prima che le oblunghe uova si rompano
e fuori ne escano battagliando
piccoli pterodactili

sopra le montagne
montagne

l’acqua luccica
un’acqua pulita d’argento
e la sabbia bagnata e quieta

il cavallo sui trampoli del nuovo mondo
il cavallo della foresta
l’autentico cavallo

più nubi
meno nubi
bronzo

col tempo
anche gli uccelli crescono
i cetrioli ammuffiscono
il campo semigelato si scongela

l’invenzione delle porte
finché ad un tratto
una capra alpina brucando la testa di un uomo cattivo
ambedue sorpresi

l’uomo cattivo ritorna in città
egli non è neppure cattivo
la capra cerca l’erba

noi trascorriamo la vita insieme in città
come grappoli inquietanti
tutti noi

burro d’arachidi va e viene

le maree di folla sono infinite
sembrano fantastiche nei loro scelti autobus urbani

una coccinella si oscura sulla cisterna dell’uomo cattivo
quando lui guarda
ragni muoiono in tarda età
dovunque nella sua città

piccioni di città sempre torturati in sogni quotidiani
adesso trovati talvolta anche
con uno smeraldo al posto della testa

nella sua città natale
mentre la ragazza è lì
lei odora di arance
quando è sveglia

l’uomo cattivo è malato
del mondo che gli gira intorno

fra poco
cala il buio su una lingua
che non comprendiamo

i nostri pannelli solari gelano
e disgelano

le cavallette sciamano ogni 17 anni

la fine di fobos

il moto proprio delle stelle

le onde diventano bianche
quando colpiscono la spiaggia
