She dreams this dream like a dog. Again and again
from the beginning. But the dream is intended
for tomorrow, so she lives now a day behind. She dreams
herself into the courtyard, through the gate, to the door,

into the house. And wakes up. She dreams this, from
the beginning, like a dog. Again and again the way
through the gate to the door into the courtyard, following day
like a tailless animal. This dog does not want to walk,

sits in her way. It guards her as though she were
its treasure. Black dog, she wants to say, wake up. But it is she
who is sleeping, who again dreams herself into the courtyard
through the grimy gate. A lost day. She walks

into the house that smells of dog, familiar. Sees
herself sitting at the table, sees herself with blurred gaze
carving into it the sign of farewell.
An eight. Such a strange day. She wakes up,

goes out into the courtyard, looks around her. And spots
above her the comet that has for years not ceased
to shine in the sky. It circles her head, and through limbs
it bores itself into the marrow until she barks.

Elle rêve ce rêve comme un chien. Le réitère
en boucle. Mais le rêve est destiné au lendemain, 
et du coup, elle vit sa vie avec un jour de retard. En rêve,
elle pénètre dans la cour, par le portail, va à la porte, 
 
entre dans la maison. Et se réveille. Puis elle réitère son rêve, 
comme un chien. A nouveau elle passe le portail, traverse la cour
jusqu’à la porte, courant après ce jour, comme 
un animal sans queue. Ce chien ne veut pas partir, 
 
reste assis sur le chemin. Il la surveille, comme si elle était son trésor. 
Chien noir, a-t-elle envie de dire, réveille-toi. Mais c’est elle
qui dort là, elle qui entre à nouveau en rêve dans la cour 
par le portail crasseux. Un jour perdu. Elle entre
 
dans la maison, qui sent le chien, odeur familière. Elle se voit
assise à la table, se voit y graver le signe 
de l’adieu, le regard brouillé. 
Un huit. Quel jour étrange. Elle se réveille,
 
Sort dans la cour, regarde autour d’elle. Et aperçoit 
au-dessus d’elle la comète qui, dans le ciel, depuis des années, 
ne cesse de briller. Elle tourne autour de sa tête
et transperce ses membres jusqu’à la moëlle, jusqu’à ce qu’elle aboie.
