Vít Slíva is a Czech poet from Silesia and a teacher of Latin and Czech. He lives in Brno.

Slíva is the founder of the writers circle Královopolský okruh; several of his students have become poets themselves. After some Samizdat publications his debut Nepokoj hodin (The restlessness of clocks) appeared in 1984. Many other collections were to follow, making him one of the most important Czech poets of his generation. In 2003 he won the Magnesia Litera Prize for his collection
Bubnování na sudy (Drumming on barrels, 2002).
