Maren Kames, born 1984 in Überlingen, lives as an author and translator in Berlin. She studied cultural studies, philosophy and theatre in Tübingen and Leipzig, as well as creative writing and cultural journalism in Hildesheim.

In 2013 she won the Jury Prize for Poetry and the Audience Prize of the 21st Open Mike with excerpts from Halb Taube Halb Pfau. The book was published by Secession Verlag für Literatur in 2016 and was awarded the Anna Seghers Prize, a one-year scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Kranichsteiner Literaturförderpreis. In the years before and after its publication, she staged the text in interdisciplinary collaborations as live radio plays, performances and audio-visual installations at the House of World Cultures, the Johann König Gallery, the Stuttgart and Freiburg Literature Houses, among others.
In 2019 she was a fellow at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles. Her second book, Luna Luna, will be also published by Secession in the same year.
