Jorge Kanese (born 1947 in Asunción), poet and specialist in microbiology. As Jorge Canese, Jorge Kanese and Xorxe Kanexe he amalgamates in his texts Portuguese, Spanish and Guaraní, the languages from the triangle of three countries, the "Triple Frontera" between Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina, and makes it a wild "Spanurguese". Léonce W. Lupette, his congenial translator into German, develops a mixed language that oscillates between German and Turkish.

Kanese writes, as he provocatively calls it himself, "Porno-Post.Avantgarde", subversively undermines all discourses of power (under the Stroessner dictatorship Kanese himself was banned, imprisoned and tortured for "political activities") and thus stands in the South American tradition of the exuberant "Neobarroco". His poems are a linguistically unleashed celebration and release of everything repressed, a picaresque-performative wallowing in the dirt. This aggressive aesthetic of the ugly is a linguistic affection against the logic of judgment and statements of political authorities. It is an agrammatic, stuttering diction, a counter-hegemonic transnational language that joyfully practices the foreign and the other. For some time now, Kanese has devoted himself to the mutant recriticism of his earlier volumes.
