Georgian author Gaga Nakhutsrishvili (b. 1971) writes poetry, plays and fiction. In 1993 he graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University's faculty of history. He studied at Goethe Institute in Rothenburg, Germany and literature in Perugia, Italy. During the 1990s he worked as a journalist before he started lecturing in Contemporary World Literature at the Ilia Chavchavadze State University of Georgia. In 2013 he was project manager for a masterclass in international poetry in translation.

He has published numerous collections of poetry, wrote several plays for puppet theatres, and his first collection of short stories appeared in 2015.

In 2003, Gaga Nakhutsrishvili was awarded the SABA literary prize for the best poetry collection. He is regarded as one of the most productive poets of his generation who surprises the reader with his sincere, unexpected and at the same time rich poetic language and images. His works are translated into French, German and English languages. Some of his poems were translated into Slovenian and appeared in the book Dnevi Peezije in Vina, Medana and in Goriska Brda in the early 2000s.
