this time the universe was composed of melted old waste-glass
and undamaged girls on ponies
that reluctantly rode through a sort of porridge,
protected by the almost-calm
from which a tremble was peeled, a heat-frieze
of friesian provenance. that was the north german plain,
that was the flatland, like on a postage stamp—
riesling-colored with dazzling effects from shadows.
i praised the regularity with which they moved.
i didn’t count it—the endlessly on individual hairsplitting
shine of a horse’s mane, i listened slightly surly to
the voices of the pale on aspen leaves, of girls. no one was awake.

in the sewage farm, we passed a red and white
striped guard house. this dog summer hoarded
bottle caps, saved beer bottle shards melting
in the landscape. our natural paradise, surrounded by
wooded buffer zones, already, to some extent, consisted of goldscape.
it was the wind that smelled like socks here and followed us.
amongst heavily guarded pine forests you were probably
entirely perforated. the sunlight seeped into you
like sewage water. mostly. that’s how it always was for you,
you wanted to get more personal and were put on a leash.
i outwitted you with quartered workplaces
and the correct understanding of lakes and rivers.

when the trunk fell shut
the smell lingered in the air for another two seconds
like a sort of box that quickly gave way to pressure,
which everyone took to be the outside world
if one compares this with the accuracy of exchange rates
and the continued deprivation of volunteers
you start to use felt mats again
so that the glasses don’t clink on the table

everyone warned us at great length
one could have done it like that, they said
in those days, when shopping in the supermarket was already considered a
creative act,
freehanded meals were rarely asked about then
even less than now, since everyone wants to be lefthanded
we make black and white copies of ourselves
our signatures swing under detailed contracts
like a resigned shake of the head from dignitaries
while outside, the rain falls down
with freehanded force, as always

you sit in the chair, stiff, as if you were something stuck in the snow
the others are there and applaud
no matter what we do, they are always there
as for me, I looked good for a long time
everywhere, corner sofas could be discovered, in which I randomly
sat, a brand new rock
but like a rain looming on the horizon
that is about to come down and catch up to us
relief approached every time
wide-legged and in the style of hopscotch, those
defiant chalklines on former
sidewalks

Όμως γιατί τόση οργή;
Τον Ταύρο ακόμα εκδικείσαι που κάποτε σε απήγαγε;
τα τόσα Αφρικάνικα διαμάντια ή ο μαύρος τους χρυσός;
Ποιες τύψεις σου ακόμα προσπαθείς να εξαργυρώσεις;

So today, no matter how bonded or adhesive with the past
you so easily forget, as every beauty does.
It is not your fault though that your memory deteriorates.
It might be our era’s fault, which sustains little from the past
and yet awaits nothing from tomorrow.
But why such a rage?
Are you still avenging the Bull that once had you kidnapped?
Hasn’t yet appeased your wide-white- face,
neither by all the African diamonds nor by their black gold?
What kind of remorse are you still trying to redeem?
Behold. Enough with your vanity and arrogance.
Cameras are everywhere now. You have been spotted.
Remember Hecuba? She, finally, crawled in chains
in spite of mothering Hector.
But you still have time.
Wipe your tear my belle and stand up.
Besides, everybody forgives a Queen.
It makes them feel noble.

in our days this is what we have: instrumente, übung. um probe-

in our days this is what we have: instruments, practice.
to operate the skin off of an eye - what do you take as instead of.
maybe for starters something out of our abundance, a bunch of grapes
a bowl of eyes, all of them dead. the bowl becomes a valley
the eyes grow looks and start to teeter through the grass, in shock.
but such a herd of eyes, alarmed, is still incapable of any impact.
focus is needed, a bustling ‘round the nous of something, and direction
and please remember, medusa isn’t guilty for what she achieves. then,
you want to know, what is a herd to do if growing snakes is not an option
what is a herd to do to finally collect their grapes, held by their dogs?
what is a herd to do if an agreement with the grass is never reached
what is a herd to do with all of its offspring, who’s going to ride them
are every herds’ options so limited, is herd just forced belonging.
and grapes. are there still those who tread the grapes among us? touch and tradition
not to be mistaken for the decoration of our continent? the herd is parted, dogs incorporated.
everyone’s trotting, but not marching, and while one half is busy treading grapes
the other lounges, barks, aborts the bleating, underrated still in their fatigue.
then at halftime the ones with now-red hooves sit down to bathe their feet
the drunkards start to wash their hooves attentively: elaborate redistribution
of exercised employment. what chew the cud of solidarity and camouflages now
itself to pose as just another duty that has been forgotten — a gesture that remains.
tbd: whose surgeon tips our bowl, a mirror in defence of medusa.
