Skalbykla

Tiek šviesiaplaukių mergaičių
lankstančių apatinius drabužėlius
skalbimo mašinų gaudesys
neonas
TV žinios

Vogčiomis žiūriu į jas
atliekančias apeigas
pintinės pilnos apatinių
kvepiančių skalbimu
kvepiančių kūnu

Tokios rimtos
tokios gražios
ir užsimiršusios mergaitės
manęs nepažįstančios mergaitės
pasilenkusios ties kupinomis pintinėmis

Svetima kalba
svetimi kūnai
svetimas aš

paskubomis grūdantis
savo drapanas
į skalbyklės gerklę

Suspausta krūtine
Vienišas
visiškai nuogas
lietuvių poetas

Laundromat

So many girls with highlighted hair
folding their underwear
to the drone of washing machines
neon
and the TV news

Stealthily, I watch
them perform the ritual
baskets full of underwear
with the lingering scent of flesh

So serious
so pretty
and so focused these girls
who don't know me at all
bending over their brimming baskets

A foreign language
foreign bodies
and foreign me
quickly stuffing
his rags
into the washing machine's throat

His chest tightening
alone
and completely naked
the Lithuanian poet

Translated from Lithuanian by Rimas Uzgiris
Language: german

Wäscherei

So viele blonde Mädchen
die Unterwäsche falten
das Dröhnen der Waschmaschinen
Neon
die TV-Nachrichten

Verstohlen sehe ich ihnen zu
bei ihren Zeremonien
Körbe voller Unterwäsche
mit dem Geruch des Waschens
mit dem Geruch des Körpers

So ernste
so schöne
und selbstvergessene Mädchen
die mich nicht kennen
die sich über ihre vollen Körbe bücken

Eine fremde Sprache
fremde Körper
ein fremder ich
stopfe hastig
meine Lumpen
in den Rachen der Waschmaschine

Mit beengter Brust
Ein einsamer
splitternackter
litauischer Dichter
