l’amor
ho fa malbé tot;
fa malbé el sexe,
destrossa l’enteniment
i esblama el color de la pell.
fa dels ulls un moble
i del llit un altre moble
-ara una vegada rere una altra.
l’amor mata el flirteig,
mata el xarampió
i mata la mirada distreta
i redreça la moral
cap a inclinacions desconegudes.

l’amor
ho fa malbé tot;
enrogalla la veu,
desfà els plans i les vistes panoràmiques
i omple el cafè de grumolls
i de nervis desbocats les venes.
l’amor encalma a mar i els paisatges més dòcils,
deixa plans els peus plans
i plana la verga més fera.

l’amor
ho fa malbé tot:
et cobreix els ulls
i entre cortines i persianes
m’oblido de mi mateix,
els rius continuen sent els rius
i jo ja no sé què fer.

die liebe
macht alles kaputt;
sie macht den sex kaputt,
sie zerstört den verstand
und sie bleicht den teint.
sie macht aus den augen ein möbel
und aus dem bett ein anderes möbel
– und zwar eins ums andere mal.
die liebe
macht das flirten kaputt,
sie tötet die masern,
sie tötet den schweifenden blick und
erhöht die moral
hin zu unbekannten neigungen.

die liebe
macht alles kaputt;
sie lässt die stimme rostig werden,
zerstört pläne und panoramablicke,
sie füllt den kaffee mit klumpen und
die adern mit nervenfasern, die sich überschlagen.
die liebe lässt das meer ruhig werden und die landschaften zahmer,
sie lässt die plattfüße platt
und macht platt die härteste rute.

die liebe
macht alles kaputt:
sie bedeckt dir die augen,
und zwischen den vorhängen und fensterläden
vergesse ich mich selbst,
die flüsse sind immer noch flüsse
und ich weiß nicht mehr was tun.

Eduard Escoffet

Eduard Escoffet was born on May 29, 1979 in Barcelona, Spain. He is one of the most important Catalan poets of his generation. Escoffet works in the border zone of traditional and visual poetry, with sound poetry and performance.

In the 1990s Escoffet emerged with his live experiments with poetry and music; till today the performance, not the book, is Escoffet preferred medium. He works with voices, computers and projections.

Escoffet also works as a critic, an editor and as a cultural agitator. Furthermore, he organizes a number of events, f. e. the Festival Proposta (2000-2004) and Barcelona Poesia (Barcelona Inetrnational Poetry Festival) (2010 - 2012). 

He has published the poetry collections Gaire (2012) and El terra i el cel (2013), as well as the artist’s book Estramps with Evru (2011). Has published two records with the electronic music band Bradien, Pols (2012) and Escala (2015). Also curated with Eugeni Bonet the film series Coming Soon on This Screen: Letterist Cinema, between Discrepancy and Revolt at the MACBA, Barcelona (2005). He is co-author of the theatre plays ¡Wamba va! (with Gerard Altaió, Josep Pedrals and Martí Sales, 2005), Puaj./Ecs.(with G. Altaió and J. Pedrals, 2005) and La Belbel Underground (with Carles Hac Mor and G. Altaió, 2006).
