Pazientemente li addestra a tacere.

* 09.12.1990, Dinant, Belgium
lives in: Brussels, Belgium

Gioia Kayaga is a Belgian slam poet and performer from Wallonia. Her family roots lie in Belgium as well as in Italy and Burundi. She grew up in Namur and now lives in Brussels, where she studied French literature. There she also discovered slam poetry and has since established herself in the Belgian slam scene. With her musical projects she also performs under the name Joy. In 2013 she was awarded the Prix Paroles Urbaines.
Gioia Kayaga writes committed poetry and has published several volumes of poetry and albums. She has performed on stages beyond Belgium, including Madagascar, Réunion, France, Canada, Switzerland and Germany.
Her remarkable work Tram 25 shows autobiographical features: a young woman with a passion for literature writingly discovers the multicultural mosaic of the city of Brussels along Tram line 25. This literary journey from the noble quarter via trendy areas to the problem districts of the city also illuminates those who are often forgotten and is at the same time a path to self-knowledge. It celebrates Brussels in all its diversity, but also criticises social shortcomings.
