***[A town on a few islands]

A town on a few islands
on the north-western coast
of Norway, with a narrow bay
looking like a trout belly,
receiving ferries and cruise ships. The streets
start from water and lead to water.
Flocks of balconies are looking at the sea.
The town of motley shadows, with
20, 000 people. In the working time
it is noisy here: plants, shops,
bars…But on Sunday
the town sleeps until lunchtime, the picture
fades. And only the pensioners
bustle about in their expensive cars.

***[Linn mitme saare peal]

Linn mitme saare peal,
Norra looderannikul,
kitsa lahega nagu forelli
kõht, mis võtab vastu
praame ja kruiisilaevu. Tänavad
algavad vee äärest ja viivad veeni.
Rõduparv vaatab merele.
Kirjude värvide linn, 20 000
inimese jaoks. Tööajal on siin
kiire: poed, tehased,
baarid... Kuid pühapäeviti
magab linn lõunani, pilt
tuhmub. Ning üksnes pensionärid
sõeluvad oma kallite autodega.

***[Pilsēta uz vairākām salām]

Pilsēta uz vairākām salām,
Norvēģijas ziemeļrietumu
piekrastē, ar šauru līci
kā foreles pavēdere, kas uzņem
prāmjus un kruīza kuģus. Ielas
sākas pie ūdens un ved pie ūdens.
Balkonu bari raugās uz jūru.
Pilsēta raibos toņos, 20 000
cilvēku. Darba laikā pilsētā
trokšņains: rūpnīcas, veikali,
bāri... Bet svētdienās
pilsēta guļ līdz pusdienām, bildīte
bālē. Un tikai pensionāri
šaudās pa to dārgos auto.

***[Ein by av fleire øyar]

Ein by av fleire øyar
på det norske nordvestlandet,
eit sund smalt som ein
auremage tek imot
ferjer og cruiseskip. Gatene
byrjar ved vatn og fører til vatn.
Ein stim balkongar ser mot havet.
Ein by med mange fargar, for 20 000
menneske. I arbeidstida
er det full fart: butikkar, fabrikkar,
barar... Men om søndagane
søv byen til lunsj, biletet
bleiknar. Berre pensjonistane
snirklar i dei dyre bilane sine.
