Vlada Urošević (Skopje, 1934) - poet, prose-writer, essayist, anthologist, translator. He graduated from the University of St Cyril and Methodius in Skopje where he also wrote his doctoral thesis. He was a professor at the Department of General and Comparative Literature where he held lectures on European Romanticism, European Symbolism and the modern movements that emanated from it. He also had lectures on the history and poetics of Surrealism.

He is a member of the Macedonian Academy of Art and Science. He is also a member of the European poetic Academy (Luxemburg), and a corresponding member of The Malarmé Academy (Paris). For his merits in the field of promoting the French poetry he has been proclaimed by the French government a Knight of the Art and Literature Order.

He entered the Macedonian literary scene in 1954. In 1959 he published his first book - the collection of poems Some other city. After that he published a great number of books that belong to various genres: nine books of poetry, seven books containing works of criticism and essays, four novels, three collections of short stories, two books of prose writings and travels, two books dedicated to painting.

He is the editor of several anthologies. He translated into Macedonian the most significant French authors of XIX and XX century: Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Apollinaire, Breton, Michaux, Bosquet and a great number of books from Macedonian into Serbian.

For his books of poetry he received the prize 'Miladinov Brothers' three times, while for his translations he twice received the prize 'Grigor Prlichev'. He is also the winner of the prizes 'Kiril Pejcinovic', 'Racinovo Priznanie' and 'Knizheven Zhezol'. He lives in Skopje.
