Poet and novelist born in Montreal in 1949, Louise Bouchard read literature at the Université de Montréal when she received a PhD in 1983 for a thesis on Gérard de Nerval’s work. From 1973 onwards, she would teach literature and collaborate with a number of publications. She has published two novels and three collections of poetry. The most recent, Entre les mondes, received the Estuaire prize in 2008. In 2010, she spent six months in Rome where she did public readings and participated in an international poetry festival in Florence. She was twice invited to Germany to perform her work and speak at colloquia on Quebecois literature. She is the University of Quebec in Montreal’s writer-in-residence for 2013. Some of her work has been translated into Italian.
